You Can’t Rebrand an Atrocity

Abu Ghraib has been repainted, repolished and has now reopened under a new name—Baghdad Central Prison.

According to news stories, the newly renovated facility even includes “a sewing room, exercise equipment, computers, a library, outdoor recreational areas, greenhouses and a barbershop.”

Apparently, the Iraqi government needed to keep Abu Ghraib Baghdad Central Prison open due to overcrowding at other detention facilities.

Maybe so, but I still think this abomination should have gotten a wrecking ball, not a rebranding program.
