I Guess It’s Better Than Hopesterdam

Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen could quite possibly be the worst line of copywriting I have ever read.

The effort, by the International Advertising Association, certainly deserves better.

Hopenhagen is a new site launched by the IAA to galvanize public support for the UN Climate Change Conference being held Copenhagen in December.

Currently, about 73,000 people have signed the petition and posted their reasons to be hopeful about building a better future for our planet.

That sounds great, but there’s still something missing here. There’s a “softness” and corporate sterility to the site that gives me pause.

UN’s Seal the Deal feels more like the right tone, rallying cry and call to action. (Although, guys, drop the silhouette of the guy raising a fist. I believistan it will work much better for you.)
