When a friend, and fellow Cub fan, boarded a plane for India on Wednesday night, the Chicago Cubs were beating the LA Dodgers 2-0 in the first game of the National League Division Series.
By the time he unpacked at his destination, the Cubs were losing the series 2 games to 0.
“Sounds like I picked a good time to be out of time,” he e-mailed me from halfway across the globe.
Nicely put, Mike. Let’s hope our team isn’t out of time, too. There’s nothing lovable about being losers. And that’s why the Cubs continue to be the world’s most confounding brand.
