A Poor Choice of Words: “Quick Ship” Bonuses

The Washington Post reports this morning that the U.S. Army is offering $20,000 “Quick Ship” bonuses to new recruits who are willing to pack up and leave immediately for basic training.

While the strategy is working—3,814 young men and women have accepted the offer in the past three weeks—I can’t think of a poorer choice of names for the program given current public sentiment about the war.
