What Difference Does a Single Word Make?

kerrysedwards.jpgJohn Kerry and John Edwards disagreed deeply on many issues, according to an excellent story in last week’s Times.

The divide often played out publicly—Edwards using “Hope is on the Way” campaign signs while Kerry insisted on “Help is on the Way.”

On paper, I’m sure the difference seemed insignificant. But the duo’s failed campaign illustrates the perils that emerge when teams—whether political or corporate—aren’t united behind the same message.
